Sculpture To Painting II

In my last blog post, I showed a multiple-exposure image made from a room-sized sculpture that I had photographed from various sides and angles. I can’t resist showing a second image I made from the same sculpture.

I thought that people might be interested in seeing the straight-out-of-camera image as well as the component images, so here we go. The next image is the in-camera multiple exposure before I brought it into Lightroom and Photoshop and played with crops, colors, duplicated layers, etc until I got a result I liked. Going from this to the final piece is where the fun and the creating occurs.

But what went into the in-camera making of the above image? It is constructed of three multiple exposures, which I have included below. The three exposures are not just layered on each other in-camera; rather, they are combined using an in-camera blend mode.

In addition to the blend modes, the white balance was changed between each photograph. You will also notice that the camera does not need to be in the same orientation for all the photos in the sequence. Even the in-camera multiple exposure was just a starting point to work with. Experimentation is really key in this kind of work!
