Black and White, With Feeling

I am currently taking a course that is focused on instilling expression in black and white images. One of the assignments was to rework an old image by converting it to black and white, while instilling focus and feeling despite the lack of color. So I decided to rework one of the photos I had taken with my Lensbaby (which tends to impart a certain feeling to an image at baseline).

I thought that I had posted the original a few weeks back, but looking back at the blog I don’t believe I ever did. So here are both the color and the black and white versions:

I’m not sure I ‘like’ one better than the other, though I do think they tend to impart different feelings. For lack of a better term, I think the black and white imparts more of a ‘creepier’ or ‘evil’ feel, which I don’t really get from the color version. What do you think?
