Powerful And Immense

When I have the opportunity to visit the Oregon Coast, a visit to the ocean always reminds me of the power and immensity of the ocean - something those of us who live inland frequently forget or simply don’t dwell upon. Last time I was there I started taking some photographs of just the waves to try to transmit this feeling. This is the first one of those images I have processed.

After completing the image I said to myself “wait, these are hardly what one would call huge waves”. And then I realized it isn’t so much the size that was really affecting me, but, rather, it was the relentless and continued constancy. High tide, low tide, while awake, while asleep the waves continue, not caring if we are there to watch……
